I’ll never forget the moment my grandfather (who left the D.R. in the 1960s to immigrate to the USA) said to me, “I’m so proud of you. You’ve done something no one else in our family has done.” He was referring to the fact that I had not only graduated from both college and grad school, I also had a promising career and owned my own home. In other words, I had achieved the American dream!

I’ve been a school counselor since 2010, working with elementary school and high school students. Many of them are English language learners from all over the world, (although the majority are “estudiantes recién llegados” from Spanish-speaking countries). I’m wildly passionate about working with this population. My bilingual abilities and bicultural knowledge allow me to inform, collaborate with, and guide students and their families through the educational system, and eventually help them transition into college.

As I interact with my students and their parents, I see in my mind’s eye the hopes and dreams of mis abuelos queridos. I can imagine what they went through and understand that many of my clients are having the same experiences. Some are new arrivals, as were my grandparents, and others have grown up here, such as myself. Either way, it’s easy to get lost in the educational system and discover that you don’t know which tools or strategies will help make you or your children succeed. That’s where I come in!

I’m here to serve you.

My mission is to help you and your child) prepare for and navigate through the college admission process via mis consejos, free webinars, and online courses. I want you to feel like you’re having coffee con una amiga!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention: when I’m not helping families, you’ll find me sweating at a CrossFit box, bike riding with my two boys, or dancing to a never-ending típico!
